Wooden World Map Installation Guide
Outbound Art Wooden World Map Installation Guide
Follow these simple steps to ensure a successful installation of your wooden map:
Step 1: Prepare the Map
- Open the Box: Carefully unpack the box and lay out all the wooden layers separately on a flat surface.
-
Acclimate the Wood: Allow the wooden pieces to air out for 24 hours to acclimate to the room's temperature and humidity. This step prevents cracking or warping.
Important: - Do not pop out the small pieces from the wooden sheets during this time, as they may crack.
- Ensure all layers are evenly exposed to air circulation. Each wooden sheet should be placed as a single layer on a flat surface.
Step 2: Position Temporary Placements
- Place the two temporary placements on the wall, 60 inches apart and at the same height.
- Use 2 small round pieces of double-sided tape to attach each placement to the wall.
- Tip: Don’t press too hard on the wall, as these placements will be removed later.

Step 3: Attach Key Pieces
- Attach "Alaska" to the left placement and the "Far East Federal District" to the right placement with the double sided tape (See section 3 in this step for guidance on double sided tape).
- Once these pieces are in place, remove the temporary placements from the wall.
- Secure the large pieces of the map using double-sided tape:
- Cut the tape to size. Use generous amounts of tape to ensure strong adhesion and to prevent the pieces from falling.
- Peel one side of the tape and stick the tape to the back of the wooden map. Peel the other side of the tape off and firmly press the map onto the wall (do not peel both sides of the tape at once which may cause the tape to stick to itself).

Step 4: Install Large Continents and Countries
- Attach the remaining large continents and countries to the wall using the same double-sided tape method (North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa).
- Ensure each piece is securely pressed against the wall.
Step 5: Add the Small Islands, Antarctica and Australia
- Now that 80% of the map is installed, it’s time to attach the small islands, Antarctica and Australia. This step requires some time, precision and patience.
- Gently push out the small pieces from the wooden sheets.
- Refer to the World Map and Number Chart for proper placement. These guides are available on our website.
- Use the small round pieces of double-sided tape for the smaller islands.
Step 6: Add Decorative Elements
